Transcending The Great Distance of Mist and Veils

We're in our new house :)  Thankfully!

 

What a wild ride to get it.  But we are finally in a house of our own.  :)  Wohoo!!

The kids are up and digging into their chocolate and berry bender.  And I've got a moment to reflect on where I'm at.

My lenten observance this year was to give up being depressed and embrace being alive again.  Normally I do something austere, but after all I'd been through it felt like a better idea to find a way clear of the Winter inside me.  I think it was the hardest lenten work I've ever done, and I'm not done with it, but I'm in a much better place now than I was 40 days ago.

I'm smiling and laughing more, I'm somewhat hopeful about work, I've dropped a few pounds, started a new workout and been re-kindling my love of heavy list.  Yesterday was Coronation, and I fought in the Toys for Tots tourney.  That's 4 straight weeks for me in armor at least once.  Its not as good as I was doing before the surgeries, but it feels good and makes me think I am finally getting back on track.

Spring his here, and I feel like I'm out of hibernation.  Thank God.

 I'm quite proud of myself.  :) I, whom my loving wife calls Iron Chef Toast because therein lies my culinary range, managed to pull off a pretty amazing dish the other night.  I made Chili prawns.  :)

I had seen them done on the Iron Chef show and was very intrigued, but all of the recipes had gluten.  :(  So after years of digging for recipes and gluten free variants of the ingredients I cobbled  what seemed like a tasty collection of ingredients and went at it, and they turned out awesome.  Yay me!

I CAN make something other than toast and chocolate truffles.  :)
